About this plant

The flowers, peel and leaves of Citrus vulgaris yield three distinct essential oils: neroli from the flowers with anxiolytic properties, petitgrain from the leaves, and bitter orange oil containing synephrine from the peel. Arab traders introduced the bitter orange to the Mediterranean around the 10th century. The name orange derives from Sanskrit naranga through Arabic naranj.
