About this plant

The bark of Quercus robur contains 8-20% ellagitannins, potent astringents traditionally used for diarrhoea, oral inflammation and wound healing. The thunderstorm tree, sacred to Thor, god of thunder. Old Norse eik was so important that in Iceland it became the general word for tree. Viking longships were built primarily from oak.
