About this plant
The aerial parts of Artemisia absinthium contain absinthin, an intensely bitter sesquiterpene lactone, and alpha-thujone, a GABA receptor antagonist. Traditionally used as a bitter tonic for appetite and digestion. A traditional bittering spice in Danish farmhouse brewing. The Scandinavian spirit bäsk is directly linked to wormwood.
