About this plant

The flower heads of Arnica montana contain helenalin, a sesquiterpene lactone that selectively inhibits the NF-κB transcription factor. For external use only, as it is toxic when ingested. Traditionally used topically for bruises, sprains and localised muscle pain. The wound-healing effect was first attributed to arnica by Tabernaemontanus in 1613.
